Apple September 2026 Event: Everything Announced

Apple’s September 2026 event delivered one of the company’s most significant hardware launches in years.

The September 9 “Surprise and shine” event introduced Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5, and an official release date for iOS 27. It was also the first major product keynote led by new Apple CEO John Ternus.

iPhone Duo Is Apple’s First Foldable iPhone

The biggest story from the event was unquestionably the iPhone Duo.

Apple is finally entering the foldable smartphone market with a book-style device that has a 5.4-inch outer display and opens to reveal a 7.6-inch inner display, giving it the largest usable screen Apple has offered on an iPhone.

The larger screen is designed for more than watching video. Apple demonstrated Split View multitasking, allowing users to work with apps side by side. The Duo can also adapt its interface depending on how the device is positioned or partially folded.

Apple Pencil support is also coming, pushing the Duo closer to a combination of an iPhone and compact iPad.

Instead of Face ID, the Duo uses Touch ID integrated into the side button.

Apple is using a Grade 5 titanium construction, Ceramic Shield protection, and an IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating. Color choices include Star White and Night Sky.

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 in the U.S. for 256GB of storage. Preorders are expected in October, with availability scheduled for October 23.

That makes it Apple’s most expensive mainstream iPhone, but also its biggest change to the iPhone form factor in years.

iPhone 18 Pro Focuses on Cameras, Performance and AI

Apple also introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Both are powered by the new A20 Pro chip, with Apple emphasizing better performance, improved cooling, on-device AI, and longer battery life.

The camera system receives one of the most important upgrades. Apple introduced a 48-megapixel camera with variable aperture, allowing greater control over how much light reaches the camera sensor. New professional controls include features such as white balance and histogram tools.

Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro can deliver up to 36 hours of video playback, while the Pro Max reaches up to 45 hours.

Siri AI Moves Deeper Into the iPhone

AI was another major theme.

Battery life increases to up to 50 hours during normal use and up to 84 hours in Low Power Mode, according to the launch details.

The Ultra 4 also benefits from Apple’s latest health-tracking and Siri features.

AirPods 5 Start at $129

Apple’s new AirPods 5 bring a redesigned acoustic system and stronger Active Noise Cancellation.

Apple says noise reduction is about 50% better than AirPods 4, while the higher-end model adds on-stem volume controls and a wireless charging case.

iOS 27 Arrives September 14

Apple also confirmed that iOS 27 will launch Monday, September 14, as a free software update for compatible iPhones.
